Cylic AMP induced Inhibition of Cyclin A Expression and Growth Arrest in HepG2 Human Hepatoma Cell Line
Lee Jeen

Abstract
Cyclic AMP is a negative growth regulator for many cells of epithelial origin. In this study, I investigated the mechanism of cAMP induced growth arrest in the HepG2 human hepatoma cell line which expresses increased and deregulated cyclin A. In HepG2 cells, cyclic AMP induces downregulation of cyclin A in both protein and mRNA level and downregulation of cyclin A is associated with inhibition of cdk2 kinase activity which plays an important role in G1/S border. These results could suggest the novel signal transduction-based approaches to hepatoma therapy.
